Vegan Beauty Products: Stay Stylish Without Harming Animals

September 15, 2018

When most people hear the word “vegan”, they automatically think about food. Vegans don’t eat meat, dairy, or any product coming from an animal. However, veganism is much more than a diet. It’s an entire lifestyle. Sure, vegans won’t eat meat, but they also won’t wear leather or suede, and they don’t buy beauty products from companies that test harsh chemicals on animals.

So, if you love makeup, nail polishes, and lotions, but don’t want to support animal cruelty, what are you supposed to do? Luckily, there are many brands that are certified vegan and cruelty-free. You can still wear makeup and get manicures without harming another living being. Here are some of my favorite cruelty-free, all-natural beauty products that will make you feel good inside and out:

  1. Tarte Cosmetics: Tarte Cosmetics is dedicated to providing high quality, vegan makeup to its customers. They sell everything from eyeshadows to lipsticks to foundations in every color and shade imaginable. All of their products are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and hypoallergenic.
  2. Zoya Nail Polish: Zoya is the leader in cruelty-free, all-natural nail polishes. Its long wear formula comes in a variety of bright colors and is free of toxic chemicals like DBP, formaldehyde, and camphor.
  3. OSEA: OSEA is a vegan skincare line that is totally free of toxic chemicals and synthetic ingredients. The lotions, face washes, and facial scrubs that they sell work wonders on sensitive skin and the company prides itself on having products that “are free of chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects.” Furthermore, OSEA is eco-friendly and only uses bioavailable and sustainable ingredients.
  4. jane iredale: jane iredale beauty products are committed to only using all-natural, non-toxic ingredients for their makeup and cosmetics. Furthermore, they are certified cruelty-free by the Leaping Bunny and PETA, meaning that the company does not test any of their products on animals.

These 4 companies provide just a glimpse into the world of vegan beauty. With so many cruelty-free skincare, makeup, and nail polish options, there is no need to buy from companies that support and engage in unnecessary animal cruelty.
